2017 Concours d’Elegance edition at the Nairobi Racecourse grounds was a memorable Sunday afternoon activity. Bringing my wife, friends and relatives added flavour to the day. I thought parking was a challenge in waiting, surprisingly they had it well-thought-out and figured out. The organizers ensured they caught the attention of both the young and old by incorporating kids’ plays. The wide open field made us do a lot of leg work which I really needed as I admired the vast variety of cars and bikes. It was a day of meeting people from different nationalities right from our Tanzanian neighbourhood stretching past Europe to America. Tourists flew into Nairobi with the sole purpose of either showcasing their well-kept vintage cars or enjoying the 70 plus collection of cars and about 40 collectors’ rare motorbikes. My best take was the 1947 MG TC, Diccon Wilcock, a car I’d gladly have added to my wedding motorcade.
